Knowing Chloe, her bedroom had to be pink and it had to be girly. For her first birthday party I gave her Flamingo themed pool party, and ever since then Flamingos have been ‘her thing.’ She affectionately calls them ‘Mingos.’
We decided to gift Chloe her new room for her third birthday present. Filling it with pretty pieces and some new toys, we were sure that she would love it. It was also time for her to transition to a big girl bed, a large moment in a little persons life.
The delight on Chloe’s face every moment each new item for her bedroom arrived just blew me away time and time again. I particularly remember when her pink Incy side table arrived and she gushed “I love it, I love pink,” as she proceeded to cuddle the table!
I’m completely obsessed with everything that our interior designer Katrina, from De Vere Design Co, created here. With each room I keep saying I think its my favourite one in the house, but truly I think this one is!Here’s a note from Katrina…. Creating a special space fit for the sweet little princess Chloe is was such a delight. There is something so very special about creating a haven for a child. Once we settled on the Flamingo theme we began with several mood boards each with a different wallpaper, and then selected other products for the room to suit it. I was excited that Natalie chose my favourite wallpaper too, it is soft, pretty and adaptable. We could easily create a room fit for a young girl, that can also be adapted as Chloe grows. This formed a really strong base for us to work with. We added other small flamingo touches to the space, the art work from Little Rae Prints was a perfectly floaty style, the blue tones also added a calming feel, and the introduction of the large felt flamingo on the wall gave texture and fun to the space. The bed was selected to add a gentle curve to the room, and again layering more texture with the fabric on the bed, moving to very delicate patterned linen sheets and a very subtle star pattern on the quilt cover. In adding the rattan in wall baskets and the arched shelf, and using wooden toys to style this, we added grounding touched to the space. The inclusion of the bedside table added some gorgeous glamour and a block of solid colour to the room. The book shelves allow Chloe easy access to her favourite books, and these can be changed up to introduce new things to read on a rotation. On the other side of the room we created an interactive space for Chloe with her beautiful rattan dressing table, which she has filled with lovely timber play hair and make up accessories. We used small scale flamingo art on this wall, a floating shelf to house treasured items, and floating petals wall decals to connect the art and play area buy traveling down the wall. The luxe velvet storage boxes not only look divine but they are also very functional. Chloe’s bedroom is a well balanced space for her to grow and play in, and we loved the opportunity to create a sanctuary just for her.
