I have been beyond excited to share Ari’s new bedroom with you all! For Ari’s fifth birthday present I asked him if he would like an outdoor playground or a new bedroom, and to my shock he chose bedroom! So I set about engaging Katrina from De Vere Design Co to create something perfect for him. Given that we had taken Ari on his first overseas trip at just nine weeks old, and how well traveled he is as a five year old, I loved her idea of a ‘Tropical Wanderer’ theme.
The most obvious feature of his new space is the spectacular wallpaper from Natty and Polly. It is the main focal point of the room and pulls in a variety of beautiful, vibrant colours. This is the fourth room we have decorated with Natty and Polly wallpaper and each one has looked incredible.
Another standout is the rug that covers most of his carpet which is from Castlery. The bold pattern and fringing on the edge work beautiful in his room, and having a rug here also protects our carpet. We have Castlery products scattered throughout our house as their variety of products is endless.
Ari’s new Mocka bed adds a touch of grown up, with the side table from Brosa next to it. I love the fresh pop off white that this table brings into the space. It also has a large draw to store his favorite toys in. Brosa produces modern furniture that is both stylish and well priced. Most of all the quality for the price is incredibly impressive.
The valvet fabric on the Petite Luxe Bebe storage boxes adds a wonderful pop of blue. Not only do they look fabulous but they are also a fantastic storage solution as well, as they fit so much in them.
Palm Tree wall stickers by Sailah Lane really plays on that tropical theme that we were heading for. Considering our house is a Palm Springs style they sit perfectly with our vibe. I love the angle of Ari’s room where you are looking out onto the pool and catch glimpses of the real palm tress and cacti in the distance.
Ari’s room is perfectly scattered with beautiful toys and goodies from many small businesses like Big Little Noise, Baby Donkie, Little Kidz Closet, Design Stuff and Love Tildy. We have remained consistent with which brands the products came from for all of the children’s rooms. Every small business has a wonderful story behind it and we are so happy to work with such beautiful companies.
Katrina did an an absolutely phenomenal job with this room reveal. She really went above and beyond to make sure that this wasn’t just an incredible space, but a beautiful birthday gift for Ari too. She wanted it to be a room that would last him for years to come as he transitions to more of a ‘big boy.’ I thought the desk was a fantastic idea. I could see instantly how proud Ari was of his room and that feeling certainly hasn’t worn off. You can find Katrina over on Instagram at De Vere Design Co.
A note from Katrina…
I was thrilled to work on Ari’s bedroom, he had waited so patiently as he watched his siblings bedrooms take shape. We knew we wanted his bedroom to be a space he could balance relaxation, play and embrace his vivid imagination. Through a cool and calm colour pallet we aimed to create a space that could transport Ari around the world to tropical locations through his imagination.
We incorporate the map wallpaper from Natty and Polly as the family love to travel the globe, they can talk about places they have been or are yet to visit whilst tucking Ari in. The Unclebearskin productions art prints are truly whimsical and add a connection to the ocean to the room. We kept the bed linen crisp in colour and added tone and texture through the cushions. The desk area is a favorite of mine with the wall hanging from K mart and wall stickers from Sailah Lane, I love the tropical feel to this side of the room. Tropical Wanderer bedroom was a dream to create and I hope you love the space as much as I do.
