Chloe’s ‘Frozen’ Third Birthday Party

I think by now you all know well how much I love a good party… especially children’s parties. So, with great delight I am sharing my favourite party to date, Chloe’s Frozen themed birthday.

Theme –
Given that Chloe’s whole life seems to revolve around Frozen, at the moment, the theme for her third birthday party was a no brainer.  This is no exaggeration, most days she wakes up and tells me she is Anna today, and goes to bed saying the same thing.

Location –
We decided to host the party at our house, January is just so hot, and I think that unless you are having a pool party, something inside in the air conditioning is best.  It was also nice to not have to worry about the chance of rain for once.   We pulled the dining table out of the living room leaving us plenty of space to set up.  Our house also has a large playroom which Chloe and her guests enjoyed playing in.

Photography –
The absolutely wonderful Diana from Adore Her Photography took the stunning images you see in this blog post.  I am beyond grateful for her talents.  She captured so many memories that I didn’t even know were happening, and it is such a joy to relive the party over and over through them.

The Invitations –
Jess from Little J Design created a beautiful Frozen themed invitation which I then sent out to friends online.  Normally I like to post invites because I imagine the children opening them, but with being time poor after Christmas and postal delays this was the perfect option.  Jess has been creating our party invitations since Ari’s first birthday, and each one has been so special and unique.

Styling –
The styling was by me!  As I said I love a good party and pulling the concept together is my favourite part.  I love creating a team of likeminded women to bring something beautiful together, I could tell that we all really enjoy it.

The Cake, Cupcakes, Cookies and Donuts –
The beautiful Ellana from Sweet P Cakes and Cookies was the genius behind Chloe’s sweet treats.  I basically just told her my theme and colour scheme, then left everything else up to her.  I am still obsessed with the birthday cake concept that she came up with, it was like a real, living Elsa!  The detail on the dress was incredible, I would never have thought up such an amazing cake concept myself.

To top off the cake she came up with three designs for cookies, a number three, a snowflake and a dress.  All were all perfectly decorated and perfectly in theme.  Something important to note is that Sweet P’s cookies can be shipped Australia wide, so it doesn’t matter where you are, these can still be enjoyed at your next function.

The cupcakes had the most delicious blue frosting and a gorgeous white snowflake on them.  At the end of the party I found a few sneaky cupcakes that had the snowflake removed by little fingers… obviously the children loved them too!

We even had a donut board filled with incredibly decorated donuts, which seemed to go down a treat with not only the children but the adults as well!  The beautiful board and stand can be hired from Sweet P, including the florals, and of course Ellana makes the donuts to go on it.  This was a beautiful décor statement to the party, as well as a tasty one of course.

I could not recommend Sweet P Cakes and Cookies any higher, honestly, she is a sweet treat wizard and just an all-round incredible human.

The Food –
I organised a graze from a wonderful online company called Gathar who can supply grazing tables, and other catering options, all over Australia.  Gather by Bonnie is the lady who does the grazes on the Sunshine Coast, and she has such a keen eye for detail.  Everything from the online booking, to the quality and the presentation of the food was outstanding.  All the food was child friendly with a selection of fruits, meats, crackers, cheese and popcorn.  We also had a separate grazing table for the adults to enjoy.

Décor –
Frozen is a fantastic theme, especially if you party is not long after Christmas!  I was able to purchase discounted white, Christmas trees for one to ten dollars!

The balloons as always were from Party Planet.  As our ceilings are so tall, I wanted to add some height to the décor, so that the tables didn’t feel lost.  Weighted floor height balloons were perfect.  Kelly organised clear balloons with blue, white and silver confetti and silver tassels.  The look exactly as I had hoped and added to the winter wonderland feel.   Kelly also created a bundle with a number three to pop next to the donut board.

I always add florals to my tables.  I have a big collection of vases and chose the flowers in accordance to the themes.  I wanted something white and fluffy like snow for this party.  Also, I found some twigs in the garden and spray painted them silver to look like frozen trees.  Then added some blue craft butterflies and white birds that I had left over from other parties.

I hired the tables, pillows and mats from Luxe Noosa Soirees, and added a few extra pillows I purchased from Ikea.  The whole set up was perfect for the children to enjoy a sweet, little, picnic style lunch.  Chloe really enjoys picnics and high teas, so this was all created so she would have a wonderful time.

Lastly, I always like to use the food as décor because children’s party food can be so pretty.

Place Settings –
I created the place settings using products from a website called Ruby Rabbit.  They had a Frozen theme section, along with lots of other themes, so I found everything I needed there.  This included bon-bons to fill with lollies, two plates, cups, napkins and confetti for the table.  I also purchased blue lollies online to fill the bon-bons with.

The silver placemats were from Kmart and will be saved for other parties.

Party Favours –
Each tiny guest received a boxed marshmallow from Cloud Theory Marshmallows to take home and enjoy.  I have been giving these boxes as party favours for years now and they are always appreciated.  The marshmallows can be mailed all over Australia, and always arrival in perfect condition.  Each one we have had has been a different colour and theme depending on the party, but all look and taste like magic.

I also bought tiny silver wands from eBay for the children to take home.  I think that adding some blue and silver ribbon to them would also be a cute addition.

Meeting the ‘Real’ Elsa –
The highlight of Chloe’s day was meeting the ‘Real Elsa’ for the first time.  I had told her that I had invited Elsa but didn’t know if she could make it.  When Chloe saw Elsa for the first time, I honestly couldn’t believe how gorgeous her reaction was.  Instantly I burst into tears and realised how easy it is to make a little girls dreams come true.  Jane from A Princess Wish was incredible, and had the children entertained for the full time she was there.  This was a huge weight off my shoulders.  Elsa stayed in character the whole time and had fantastic responses to all the kids burning questions like… how did you get here?  Who is back at Arendelle?  Where is Anna?  Show me your powers!

With Jane organising it the children enjoyed a treasure hunt, they made crowns, sang, danced and twirled ribbons, then the day was finished off with some face painting.

Jane can come to your party as pretty much any character you can think of from a Wiggle, to Princess Belle or a Ballerina. She is based in Brisbane so is available all over the coast.

Chloe’s Outfit –
I wanted Chloe to be comfortable in the heat, and have ease of movement to play, so I decided against a traditional tulle dress for her princess party.  I have been a fan of Chloe and Amelie for some time now, for their quality designs.  I saw a gorgeous two-piece top and short set, in the perfect shade of ‘Elsa blue.’  I can’t decide if Chloe looked chic, stylish, sophisticated… probably them all!
