We recently celebrated our wonderful Chloe’s 7th birthday with an absolutely rad ’90s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” themed party! Can you believe it? My baby is now seven! As you know, I have a deep love for children’s birthday parties, and treating my kids and their friends to a fantastic day is one of my absolute favourite things. These parties continue to be a highlight in our family’s year.

The theme and location
When i asked Chloe what theme she wanted for her 7th birthday party she said “something really girly.” She loves polaroids, gum ball machines, smiley faces, rainbows and bright colours. So after some consideration we settled on an incredible 90s-themed “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” party, and let me tell you, it was all that!

We decided have Chloe’s party at home, making this the first birthday party I have hosted in our new place. I was nervous to begin with, due to the change, but with the help of some incredible like minded businesses we created something spectacular.

Our party planner
Just like in the past few years, our collaboration with the fantastic My Little Party Hire has resulted in the creation of Chloe’s absolutely incredible birthday party. Jasmin, who has now orchestrated eight parties with us, is truly exceptional. Each celebration boasts a unique theme, and every one of them has been nothing short of spectacular. From a Malibu Barbie pool extravaganza, to an adopt-a-puppy fiesta, a koala-themed bash, a fairy gathering, and more! – Jasmin’s creativity knows no bounds!

My Little Party Hire specialises in environmentally conscious parties, steering clear of plastic and minimising the use of single-use products. Their commitment to reducing the environmental impact of parties extends even to the thoughtful disposal of party waste, a testament to their dedication to Mother Earth.

Jasmin’s involvement in every aspect of the party, from setup to pack down, showcases her dedication. She handcrafts most of her decor, inclduing the photobooth which was used in this party. Jasmin’s environmentally conscious choices reflect her genuine pride and consideration for the planet. She is an exceptional party planner, and I feel fortunate to have found someone who shares my passion for celebrations. Jasmin took care of nearly every detail, even down to providing the cake knife and lighter! This meant that I was able to give Chloe and her little firneds my full attention, run all of the party games and just really take care of my little girl.

Cake and cupcake/pancake station
Sweet P Cakes and
Cookies wowed Chloe and her friends with their delightful treats at the party. For starters, there was a DIY cupcake and pancake decorating station, where the little ones were able to crate magic using icing, and decorative toppings.

As for Chloe’s birthday cake, it took on a whole new level of fabulous. Picture this: a white chocolate and raspberry cake, embracing a nostalgic 90s theme, adorned with a photograph of Chloe, along with smiley facws, love hearts and ‘gum balls.’ A 90s-themed girly masterpiece!

Ellena’s involvement in my children’s parties has become a tradition, and each time she impresses me with her boundless creativity and passion for bringing beautiful parties to life.

The food
The mastermind behind the delectable feast was none other than the incredibly talented Ruby from Journey Food Co, and let me tell you, her food served not only lunch but exceptional decor as well! What a feast for the eyes!

The child-friendly graze she curated for Chloe’s little guests was nothing short of enchanting. From sausage rolls to fruit sticks, fairy bread to macaroons, there was an array of delightful treats and some healthy options too!

One of the aspects that truly impressed me was Ruby’s keen attention to detail. I provided her with our dietary requirements, and she effortlessly took care of the rest, leaving me with the peace of mind to fully immerse myself in the celebration. As the children indulged in the playful and enticing spread, I couldn’t help but marvel at the thoughtfulness that went into every aspect of the menu.

Not to be overlooked, Ruby extended her culinary wizardry to the adult guests, creating a smaller, equally impressive graze.

Ruby’s contribution elevated the entire birthday celebration to new heights. The food not only fueled the festivities but also became an integral part of the overall decor, perfectly in the spirit of Chloe’s 90s-themed “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” party.

Glitter hair station
At my Chloe’s birthday party, Jasmin introduced a dazzling addition that stole the spotlight – the hair glitter station! This whimsical corner became an instant hit among our young guests, transforming their hairstyles into sparkling works of art. The station was adorned with an array of vibrant eco glitters and shimmering clip accessories, allowing each child to express their unique style and personality. As the little ones eagerly lined up, our talented glitter artists Jane (from A Princess Wish and Kate,) worked their magic, turning ordinary hair into a glittery masterpiece. Laughter and excitement filled the air as the kids admired their sparkling locks in the mirror. The hair glitter station added a touch of magic to the celebration, creating unforgettable moments and ensuring that every child felt like a glittering star at the party!

Party games
Our home was filled with laughter and excitement as the little ones engaged in a medley of delightful party games. Keepie uppy had everyone on their toes, limbo added a touch of friendly competition and the whimsical tunes of musical statues had all of Chloe’s guests freezing in amusing poses. We also played a classic game of pass the parcel, but with a twist. Instead of wrapping a gift for our guests to unwrap, Jasmin came up with an eco friendly solution. She has a magic fairy box filled with little treasures for each child. They were told to close their eyes and make their ‘lucky dip style, selection. Each game brought its unique magic.

Photo booth
Jasmin created an amazing photo booth for the girls to have fun in. The artistic backdrop was stunning. The girls used polaroid cameras to take their photos and then they used magnets from Lines by Design to fix their images to Chloe’s photo board by Grow Me Melb. Chloe got to keep the board with all of the images to treasure in her room.

Rock painting
Chloe’s guests had some fun with rock painting using eco friendly supplies. It was a wonderfully calming activity.

Slip n slide
At my daughter’s birthday party, laughter echoed through the air as a group of exuberant girls embraced the thrill of summer on our backyard slip ‘n slide. The sun beamed down on their joyful faces as they gleefully slid down the slick surface, arms flailing and carefree laughter filling the atmosphere. Colorful swimsuits glistened in the sunlight as they raced to see who could make the biggest splash. With each turn, the Slip ‘n Slide transformed our ordinary lawn into a water-soaked haven of pure childhood delight. As parents watched on with smiles, it was evident that this simple yet timeless summer activity had woven unforgettable memories into the fabric of my daughter’s special day. The slip ‘n slide became a conduit for unbridled joy, turning a birthday celebration into a sun-soaked adventure the girls will cherish for years to come.

Party Favours
From enchanting decorations to delightful games, every detail of Chloe’s party was carefully crafted to make this celebration truly special. However, the magic didn’t end with the festivities; it continued as we bid farewell to our little guests with charming party favours. Each child left with a little piece of the celebration – a touch of glamour courtesy of Oh Flossy’s vibrant nail polishes and lip glosses. The creative spirits were also ignited with bracelet kits from Time to be Sensory, allowing them to design and craft their unique accessories using they beautiful kits. And the handmade key rings from The Little Shindig Shop added a personal touch, which a lot of the girls used for their school bags. These carefully chosen favorus not only added an extra sprinkle of joy but also served as a reminder of the wonderful memories shared on this special day.

Prizes
What made the event even more special were the enchanting prizes we selected from Kuddly Kids in Buderim. Winners received gifts like a spellbinding potion-making kit, pieces to create their own fairy garden, a charming stationary set, and a lovely necklace with a matching ring. Kuddly Kids proved to be a treasure trove for unique and beautiful gifts for children, making the birthday party an unforgettable experience for our little attendees. The magical atmosphere and delightful prizes truly made it a day my daughter and her friends will cherish for years to come, because who doesn’t love party games!

Party character
You may remember Jane from our previous birthday parties.  Or perhaps you remember her as Elsa, Ariel or Barbie? We asked Jane from A Princess Wish to join us at Chloe’s party, as a helping hand. This time we asked her to come not as a character, but as her fun girly self. Jane ran the gliter hair station, managed party games and kept the children happy throughout the morning.

Jane can come to your party as pretty much any character you can think of from a Wiggle, to Princess Belle or a Ballerina. Or she can come as herself. Jane is amazing at taking the pressure off of parents so that they can enjoy their child’s special day as well. She is based in Brisbane so is available all over the coast.

Piñata
Piñata Pals truly outdid themselves with the creation of the most incredible piñata for Chloe’s party, embracing the delightful ’90s Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ theme. They crafted an absolutely massive and vibrant rainbow, adorned with iconic smiley faces, bright colors, and even nostalgic Rubik’s Cubes. This whimsical masterpiece added an unparalleled level of excitement to the celebration, instantly becoming the focal point of the event. I cannot express enough gratitude for their attention to detail and creativity, which not only made the piñata a fun addition but also perfectly aligned with the overall theme.

I filled the piñata with as many eco friendly lollies as i could find!

Jess can custom create party invitation, or you can choose form the selection of downloadable options on her website. Jess has been creating my party invitations for years. Her artistic flair and attention to detail truly shines through in everything she creates. It is so special to be able to keep all of my children’s invitations for their memory boxes.

Our photographer for the day was Still by Kaiti, and all the captivating images featured in the blog piece belong to her creative lens. Kaiti possesses this remarkable ability to seamlessly capture each precious moment without disrupting the organic flow of the event. AND she didn’t mkiss a thing! This marks the third occasion our family has had the privilege of Kaiti’s photographic expertise, and on all instances, her work has left us utterly enchanted. I extend my everlasting gratitude to Kaiti for granting me the opportunity to relive moments from the party that I might have overlooked, as her candid shots unveiled aspects I may not have noticed with my own eyes. The way in which her photography has immortalised this special day, pausing it in time, serves as a heartwarming testament to her skill and the cherished memories she has bestowed upon us. Thank you Kaiti!
