Looking for a seaside escape filled with natural beauty, charming local shops, and unforgettable experiences? Yamba, on the NSW North Coast, offers all that and more. Our recent three-night stay in this coastal town was nothing short of magical, from its pristine beaches to the vibrant local scene. Let me take you through our Yamba adventure, with all the details of where we stayed, what we did, and why Yamba is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to relax, explore, and soak up the coastal charm.
Where We Stayed: Dunes on Pippi Beach with Ocean Stays
For our holiday, we stayed at the stunning Dunes on Pippi Beach, a beautiful beach house that felt like a true coastal haven. The property, which we booked through Ocean Stays, offered everything we could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. The spacious house was modern yet cosy, with coastal décor and amenities that made us feel right at home. One of the highlights was the private pool – a perfect spot to unwind in the afternoons after a day of exploring.
Ocean Stays made the booking process effortless, ensuring we had everything we needed for a smooth and enjoyable stay. If you’re looking for a premium beachside experience in Yamba, I highly recommend checking them out for accommodation that combines style, comfort, and location.

Our Yamba Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival and Dining at Sassafras Yamba
We arrived in Yamba in the early afternoon and were able to check in early to Dunes on Pippi Beach. After settling in and taking a dip in our private pool, we headed out for a lovely dinner at Sassafras Yamba. Known for its delicious Italian fare, we indulged in handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza – the perfect start to our Yamba adventure.
Day 2: Headland Walks, Local Shops, and a Beach Day
Our second day began with a refreshing headland walk, where we took in breathtaking views of the coastline. Afterwards, we strolled into town to pick up groceries and decided to make breakfast back at the house. The local shops were an absolute delight, with two favourites being Mylk & Stone for homewares and gifts, and One Country Mouse for stylish fashion finds.
In the late morning, we made our way to Main Beach, a family-friendly spot perfect for swimming and lounging by the ocean. We also enjoyed a dip in Yamba’s famous ocean pool, a unique experience with incredible views. That evening, we dined at The Mexican, a vibrant local spot with authentic flavours and a relaxed vibe.
Day 3: Exploring Angourie and Gin Tasting
On our third day, we ventured to the nearby Blue and Green Pools at Angourie Beach – an absolute must-see for any Yamba visit. These natural pools are a stunning mix of blue and green hues, perfect for a refreshing swim. After our beach adventure, we indulged in a gin tasting at Yamba Distilling Co., where we sampled locally crafted gins while enjoying the laid-back atmosphere of the distillery.
For our final dinner in Yamba, we opted for a classic beachside meal – fish and chips – which we enjoyed back at the house, soaking in the last moments of our stay.
Day 4: A Cozy Café Morning and Farewell
On the morning of our departure, we made a quick stop at Yum Yum Angourie Café and General Store for hot chocolates and breakfast, a charming spot with delicious, fresh food. Before hitting the road, we couldn’t resist popping into Palmers Store for a few last-minute finds to take home. Both spots added a cozy and local touch to our farewell from Yamba.
Yamba provided us with the perfect blend of relaxation, exploration, and coastal charm. Whether you’re planning a quick weekend escape or a longer stay, Yamba offers something for everyone, from pristine beaches to hidden local gems. This holiday has left us with wonderful memories, and we can’t wait to return to this special coastal town.
Lots of love,
